Pushing out the Educator

September 24, 2017

Ratio of roles in SDUHSD in 2016 according to Transparent California

Are students suffering because of the decline in staffing of the true educator in SDUHSD?

While the number of teachers has declined 14% as discussed in the previous post; our Executive Cabinet and Staff has increased 45% and the Walk-On Coach has increased 28%.

In 2011-2012

General Fund Revenue (Gov Fund 01-60; Gen Fund 01-08) = $100,569,190

Executive Cabinet and Executive Staff Total Pay and Benefits  =  $2,344,008

Walk-on Coaches Total Pay and Benefits = $670,709

In 2015-2016

General Fund Revenue (Gov Fund 01-60; Gen Fund 01-08) = $127,240,126

Executive Cabinet and Executive Staff Total Pay and Benefits  =  $4,457,643

Walk-on Coaches Total Pay and Benefits = $926,123

As teachers decline in the District (leading to a rise in class sizes and a disconnect in school connectedness),  General Fund Revenue continues to increase as a "bloated" administration continues to spout to the community; we have no money.

What has this "bloated" administration caused -  it has caused parents to pay to the foundations the following sums of money for Walk-on Coach payments:

TPHS Foundation Stipends reported on 2016 990...............................................$399,770

LCC Foundation Coaches reported on 2016 990.................................................$280,705

SDA Foundation Athletic Programs reported 2016 990...................................... $221,501

CCA Foundation Non-Employee Comp. reported 2016 Audited Financials.....$324,971

Between the Four High School Foundations, parents paid roughly $1,226,947 for Walk-On Coaches-- not teachers but walk-on coaches, not uniforms, not transportation, but for non- teacher salaries and benefits.

Imagine if we could direct this to incentivize TEACHERS to Coach

Imagine if we had innovative Board Members

Imagine if our administration was not "Bloated" and actually focused on the importance of the Student-Teacher relationship.

How great could we truly be?    We have not even scratched the surface of our capabilities for ALL Students to strive to accomplish their dreams..to dare to be great.

What if...
